Zwei Grosse Meister Aus Oostende: Ensor und Spilliaert

Item code: 184042004

Ensor (1860-1949) grew up in a small coastal garrison town with a fishing port at its beating heart. A few decades later, Spilliaert (1881-1946) was born in a fashionable seaside resort to which the beau monde came from inland to be entertained at the Casino and to stroll along the broad seafrontpromenade. Welcome to Ostend, a city with an exciting but eventful past and home to two great masters. Altough their paintings are as different as 'night and day', both their oeuvres display a deep fascibatiion with ostend's light, its fishermen, its beach life and rhythm of the sea
