Mu.ZEE collection and photographs by Paul Van den.

From 20 October there will be an exhibition of a collection of black and white photographs taken by photographer-reporter Paul Van Den Abeele (b. Aalst, 1929) who started working for the Standaard group in 1947. He is also famous for being the personal photographer of writer, poet and artist Louis Paul Boon (d.1979).
Through the years, Paul Van Den Abeele took dozens of portraits of artists: Roger Raveel, Dan Van Severen, Raoul De Keyser, Edgard Tytgat, Marc Mendelson, Henri Wolvens, Albert Servaes, José Vermeersch, Bram Bogaert, Hergé, Luc Claus, Panamarenko, Jan Fabre, Maurice Wyckaert, Antoine Mortier, Armand Vanderlick, Paul Delvaux, Luc Peire, Vic Gentils, Oscar Jespers, Rik Slabbinck, Alechinsky , Gilbert & George...
To complement the selected photographs, some ten artworks have been chosen from Mu.ZEE ’s permanent collection. Artists and their artworks, spanning the period from 1950 to 1999, will literally rub shoulders in Permeke’s former sculpting studio: Pol Bury, Panamarenko, Marcel Mayer, Antoine Mortier, Luc Peire, Michel Seuphor, Jan Fabre, Leo Copers, Marcel Mariën and Gilbert Decock.
