PRE-PRIMARY EDUCATION: Look How Small!

Interactive tour for pre-primary education in the exhibition “Statuettes. Small Sculptures at Home”

Welcome to a place filled with small sculptures!

Some are old, others are brand new. Some are smooth, others rough. And each one has its own story…

During this tour, children go on a discovery journey with the guide into the world of small sculptures. We look carefully, use our imagination and explore with all our senses. With our eyes, ears and imagination we can already feel and discover a lot.

What do we do together?

Look & search
Which sculptures are small? Which ones are a little bigger? Do you see a person? An animal? Something very strange?
Seeing with your eyes
Does this sculpture look soft or hard? Would it feel cold or warm?
Playing with “home”
Where would this sculpture live? In the kitchen? On a cupboard? In a little bed?
Inventing stories
Who is this sculpture? What does it do when nobody is watching?
Move & imitate
Can we copy the pose of this sculpture? Big, small, quiet or brave?
Everything happens at the children’s pace, with short activities, repetition and plenty of room for wonder.

What do children discover?
That art can also be small
That sculptures can represent people, animals or imaginary creatures
That looking and telling stories is fun
That art can also live in people’s homes and become part of a collection of small treasures
This tour stimulates language, imagination, body awareness and curiosity.

At the end, teachers receive a creative follow-up activity for the classroom.
